Traditional fish markets in Puducherry, India – such as Goubert and Kassim – have long served as culinary and trade hubs in the region. However, their crumbling tiles and roofs, poor sanitation and drainage made them increasingly unhygienic and unfit places for trade. These uniquely women-run markets then underwent extensive renovation for better and sustainable fish mongering, improving livelihoods of the fishing communities.
The World Bank commissioned a series of 9 films to us for showcasing the varied kind of work that they have been doing across India.
