In the state of Odisha in India, the government is committed to achieving “Mission Zero Casualty” during cyclones. Multi-purpose cyclone shelters are a step in that direction. These shelters serve as emergency havens during cyclones and as community centers during calmer times. To prepare for the next storm, local villagers and youth perform regular drills and rescue training. With 800 shelters, Odisha is now one of the world’s most disaster-ready areas.
The World Bank commissioned a series of 9 films to us for showcasing the varied kind of work that they have been doing across India.
