CLIENT: Discovery Channel
Discovery Channel commissioned us to do a one-hour revelatory special that would break down the impact of climate change in India, into everyday codes. Probably one of the most challenging assignments we have undertaken!
One of the key objectives that we set out with was to be able to create a film that can trigger a discussion, a debate or a conversation about climate change. We chose to take an alarmist view and tell the story through the eyes of a protagonist who is in the year 2050. The POV format allowed us to describe the emotional impact of the environmental collapse, and look back at its genesis though the 2000’s. The narrative is interspersed with bites from climatologists, climate-modelers and experts.
The 2050 segments were created through visual effects and comprised dystopian visuals of urban centres – to say that being richer is not going to insulate us from climate change. This was a formidable challenge – both from the point of view of time-frame and budget.
